Multi-channel readback model for an optical tape system

We develop a channel model for multichannel readback in an optical tape system which encodes the binary data as reflectance differences in the media. The channel model can be used to evaluate various signal processing schemes. Different algorithms are compared using numerical methods and simulations. The results provide an insight into the advantages of using advanced detection and equalization techniques.
