A study of a cochlear simulator

In this paper we present a study of the Zwislocki transmission line model for the cochlea using a new artifact, constant impedance networks. The analysis gives a good insight to the cochlea transfer function and leads to simulator using a cascade of second order sections that can exhibit a slope of 6 to 12 dB/octave below the characteristic frequency (maximum gain), a steep above it and also a plateau at high frequencies, which is closer to the biological model than previously published models. This form of realization is implementable through VLSI techniques.
