Influence of gate width and gate finger towards noise figure of p-HEMT

It can be concluded that the gate finger and gate width variations give some influences to the noise figure of HEMT with a significant percentage. However, the gate finger variation will give higher influence to the noise figure performance compared to the gate width due to the less effect on the C
gs
. This situation can be found to be consistent throughout the frequency range where the changes can be observed clearly. For the lower noise figure application at high frequency for example, the less number of gate finger design would be recommended. By having this configuration, the performance of the device would have better noise figure meanwhile keeping the gain to be higher and stable at high frequency.
