Preparation of Oxygen-Deficient Ferrite Fe3O4-delta from Magnetite and Reducing SO2 to S0

Studies of preparation of Fe
₃
O
_4-delta
by CO reduction and reducing SO
₂
into S under different temperatures were carried out. The sample was prepared with wet method ball-milling method for 500 h using water as the solvent. The materials were characterized by SEM and XRD. By detecting the change of the systematic pressure, the reduction reaction of SO
₂
to S
⁰
was studied with the prepared Fe
₃
O
_4-delta
. The result showed that the reduction of SO
₂
obeyed the rule of single peak value to the temperature. Under the conditions of CO flow rate of 40 ml/min, reduction time of 6 hours and reaction temperature of 673 K, the prepared Fe
₃
O
_4-delta
showed the highest efficiency in reducing SO
₂
. One gram of magnetite sample can reduce about 1.414 times 10
^-3
mol SO
₂
.
