MIL-STD-1772 and the future of military hybrids

The author affirms that MIL-STD-1772 has accomplished its purpose of assuring the highest level of reliability possible in the products of qualified hybrid manufacturers. He examines how this has been accomplished and discusses the effects that the military specifications continue to have upon the design and manufacture of military hybrid microelectronics. It is shown that the major changes to the military specifications for hybrids represented by MIL-STD-1772 are causing corresponding changes in the hybrid industry. Through their efforts to qualify to MIL-STD-1772, a growing number of hybrid facilities have proven their understanding of and compliance with the applicable military specifications. This has led to a raising of the quality consciousness in the hybrid industry, and it has fostered a higher degree of customer confidence in the hybrid facilities which have qualified.<
