Slow dynamics of metallic glass measured at room temperature with a fiber optic interferometer

Transversely annealed strips of metallic glass have been probed using a fiber interferometer. This technique can measure strain variations down to 10/sup -13///spl radic/Hz. We report measurements of low-frequency 1/f type noise stemming from localized magnetic relaxation in the amorphous material.
