Software Related Current/Energy Estimation in Processor Based Implantable Pacemaker

In most of the modern battery operated processor based real time embedded systems, hardware functionalities are realized with the help of dedicated software. Software used in such systems is responsible for processor energy consumption. Pure base cost, interinstruction cost and circuit state overheads are the basic components to analyze system with respect to current/energy consumption. In this paper, instruction level estimation has been done with different approaches for the realization of pacemaker functionalities. MSP 430F1611 ultralow power processor and IAR workbench is used for realization of pacemaker functionalities. These instruction level components are measured and used to decide length of battery life. Research is aimed towards design and analysis of power critical systems.
