Enterprise processes-organisation and teams

The increase in product complexity has been exponential over the last few decades and many approaches have been developed and adopted to accommodate this growth. The understanding and introduction of concurrent engineering environments has gone a long way to address not only this increase in complexity but also the ever demanding time and cost criteria of the customer. This goal or vision of a true concurrent working environment must be supported by many factors. It is the purpose of this paper to highlight some of these particularly related to the use of a process oriented ethos. The use of processes has significant advantages to simplify methods and organisation structures to support that development. The consistency of approach and reuse of not only product data but management systems must dramatically reduce the overheads. A significant increase in value added time can be generated and waste removed.
