Analysis, control and modeling of cascaded multilevel converter-based IPC

This paper proposes a novel interphase power controller (IPC) based on multilevel cascaded H-bridge converters, which are fed by diode bridge sources. In the proposed structure the fundamental modulation scheme is applied to decrease the switching loss in the converters. Furthermore, in this paper the mathematical model of IPC is derived. Control Design is proposed to determine the controller parameters. Analytical methods to obtain the nonlinear system transfer functions are complicated and time consuming. The proposed method gives the capability to find the system transfer functions, and study the system behavior for determination of the appropriate controller. The performance of proposed system is explored by simulation in PSCAD, with assuming that the IPC is connected to 230 kV power system transmission network of Iran.
