Experience in prototyping the service switching point for AIN

In the advanced intelligent network (AIN), the service switching point (SSP) is regarded as the keystone entity which discriminates the AIN service calls from other ordinary calls, provides a suitable process for them, and connects them to destination parties. We developed an AIN SSP prototype to verify the SSP functions before the complete implementation of a real system. We present the implementation of an AIN SSP prototype for the intelligent network (IN) Capability Set-1 (CS-1) recommended by the International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication standardization sector (ITU-T), i.e., a prototype configuration and software structure based on the service switching function (SSF)/call control function (CCF) model described in the ITU-T Q.1214 recommendation.<
