Research of Cluster-OFDM System for Underground Coal Mine PLCs

Power line communication (PLC) is one of the most attractive communication methods for in-home networks. However, the emissions of unwanted electric waves from PLC system, noise, inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-channel interference (ICI) cause harmful interference to communication systems. This paper discusses the characteristics of underground coal mine (UCM) power line communications (PLCs) and indicates the channel is more complex than home PLCs. Many obstacles blocked the way to fast and easy solutions to communicate in UCM. Cluster-OFDM system is proposed to use in UCM PLCs system, which puts up more advantages than standard OFDM system. Simulation results make clear this scheme is proper.
