Quasi-behavioral model of a voltage fed inverter suitable for controller development

This paper develops a quasi-behavioral model of a voltage fed inverter that includes the effects of inverter deadtime, parasitic capacitances, flyback diode conduction, and switching and conduction losses. Detailed cycle-by-cycle waveforms are generated using discrete state machines, negating the need to solve device-level or idealized circuit equations. The inverter model is constructed in the commercially available MatrixX simulation environment and can readily be incorporated into closed-loop current controller simulations. Experimental results verify the switching performance of the quasi-behavioral inverter model and indicate its effectiveness as part of a closed-loop current controlled system.<
