Linear and Nonlinear Quantitative EEG Analysis

China is the most populous country in the world, with a population of 1.3 billion, and the Han comprising more than 90% of the population. Apart from various changes such as rapid industrialization, a major challenge for China is its rapidly aging population, and diseases of the elderly, for example, Alzheimer's disease (AD), are emerging as important health issues [1]. AD is one of the most frequent disorders characterized by cognitive and intellectual deficits and behavior disturbance among the elderly population. Approximately 50-60% of patients with dementia who are more than 65 years old are clinically related to AD [2]. In 2004, about 5 million individuals in China were estimated to have AD [3]. This number is projected to increase to 15 million by 2050, and, consequently, the study of this disease is becoming more critical and significant.
