Optofluidic device for molecular detection via surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

In this paper, an optofluidic device was reported for the reproducibility and sensitivity improvement of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for molecular detection. The optofluidic device can trap nanoparticles and molecules at a specific location to form nanoparticles/molecules clusters with reliable and hot spot site. With these advantages, this technique enables the early detection of diseases such as Alzheimer's (AD) or cancer. With the multiple molecule detection capability, this device can identify targeted amyloid beta peptid from other molecules such as insulin or albumin, confounder proteins in cerebral spinal fluid.
