User-centric requirements and design of a testbed for iDTV in alpine rural areas

SAMBA (system for advanced interactive digital television and mobile services in BrAzil) EU project goal is that of providing users in remote communities with means for accessing interactive digital television (iDTV) services. In this paper we present SAMBA approach based on Power Line Communications (PLC) as return channel for iDTV and results from the preliminary user-requirements analysis for such technology.
