Efficiency design of a 10GHz CMOS oscillator

A fully on-chip transformer-based coupling 10GHz CMOS oscillator is presented in this paper. By using on-chip transformer to reduce Si substrate loss of RF coupling and matching, a maximum DC-to-RF conversion efficiency of 16% with an output RF power of ~10dBm at 9.98GHz is achieved.
