An efficient FDTD implementation of the CFS-PML based on the ADE method and its validation along with the PLRC method in dispersive media

Based on the stretched coordinate perfectly matched layer (SC-PML) formulations and the auxiliary differential equation (ADE) method, an efficient implementation of the complex frequency shifted PML (CFS-PML) is proposed for truncating the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) lattices. For simulating dispersive media, the piecewise-linear recursive convolution (PLRC) method is incorporated into the FDTD update scheme. A numerical validation of the proposed formulations is given through a radiation problem in threedimensional dispersive media. It is shown in the numerical test that the proposed PML formulations with CFS scheme are efficient in attenuating of low-frequency and evanescent waves and reducing late-time reflections, and also hold better absorbing performance than the convolutional PML (CPML).
