Tracer Study on a Modified SBR Process

To further study a new modified SBR reactor, reaction theory is applied to the flow pattern analysis of this reactor. NaCl was used as a tracer. A common impulse-response method was adopted. Conductivity was measured manually using a conductivity meter every 15 minutes intervals. The relationship between conductivity and salt concentration was ascertained by experiments. A special curve of exit-age distribution function (E (t)) was analyzed by traditional method. Levenspiel's model was used to calculate dead-zones of the reactor. Two flow patterns were compared under two different hydraulic connecting ways. As a result, the flow pattern of this reactor is between the ideal plug flow and perfect mixing flow. This reactor is a high efficient one with smaller dead-zones.
