Abstract:

The prototype of piezoelectric vibration acceleration sensor was fabricated which sensitive element consists of piezoelectric ceramic disk sandwiched with truncated conical metal end caps. The acceleration forces on the sensor were analyzed, the output voltage sensitivity, SU, of the sensor as a function of the acceleration force, F, was studied and the mathematics model was established. Radial disturbance effective on the output voltage sensitivity of piezoelectric vibration acceleration sensor was investigated. The results showed that the radial acceleration force contributes a minus output voltage sensitivity to the sensor because the radial effective piezoelectric coefficient, d31e and d32e, of the piezoelectric sensitive element are minus. Consequently the output voltage sensitivity of the sensor reduces with the angle, θ, between the longitudinal axes of the sensor and the acceleration force direction increasing, and obtained the maximum output voltage value and minimum output voltage value when the θ equals 0° and 90° separately. The experimental results showed that the test vales agree with the theoretical values basically.
