Charge Buffered Logic (CBL) - A New Complementary Bipolar Circuit Concept

Bipolar complementary transistor logic circuits having a much lower power at standby than during switching have been very little explored(1). This paper describes a new circuit concept that enables large switching currents in the mili amp range at a steady-state current of a few micro amps, thus achieving fast switching at a low average power dissipation similar to CMOS. The circuit principle has been verified by experiments that also have been supported by computer circuit analysis.
