A wide bandwidth resonant digitally controlled 48 V voltage regulator module

The paper presents a novel bilinear discrete time model with pre-warping Tustin's rule for the digitally controlled self-oscillating resonant converters. The model employs the sampled data technique to provide a means for an accurate stability design and transient response prediction. The proposed method defines the crossover frequency of the converter, which is a critical parameter for a fast transient response converter. The model provides the first step to model the high frequency digitally controlled resonant converters for the microprocessor applications. The model design guidelines are illustrated. Simulink and preliminary prototype results validate the design approach.
