The Evaluation of Intellectual Capital in a Taiwan Hospital

This study investigated the degree of impact of intellectual capital on hospital management in a Taiwan district teaching hospital. The findings indicated that the demographic characteristics of employees had significant differences on the degree of impact of intellectual capital on hospital performance. The marketing capital ranked first, while the relationship capital ranked the last. Physician-patient relationship, organizational cohesion and teamwork were the three most important elements, while informal learning, different business alliance and purchasing management were the three least important elements. The contribution was to provide managers of hospitals with information to assist them to allocate limited resources to the elements with significant impact on performance.
