Study of radiated emissions from a RJ45 connector for ethernet transmission using FDTD method

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to calculate the electric fields irradiated from a RJ45 connector for Ethernet transmission. Simulation results of electric fields irradiated from the RJ45 connector are presented and compared with those obtained from measurement data at a distance of 10 meters for vertical and horizontal polarizations at frequencies 300∼1000 MHz. It is shown that simulation results make a good agreement with measurement data. It is also found that simulation and measurement results for both vertical and horizontal polarizations are over the regulation limit at 600 MHz.
