Preparation and Study of Bunches Containing 1011 Protons in the Fermilab Main Ring

A scenario for combining four adjacent bunches in the Fermilab main ring into a single bunch containing 1011 protons is described. This is to be done using a 7th sub-harmonic rf cavity. First experimental results of the procedure are shown.
