Fluid treatment of runaway electrons in strong electric fields

A one-dimensional fluid code is discussed which treats the problem of a space-charge-limited beam which is injected into air. The focus of the treatment is upon a model for runaway electrons. The code is the first step in the development of a technique to solve this multi-dimensional problem.
