Microwave Characterization of Bulk Ferroelectrics and Relaxors using Composite Dielectric Resonator

A method based on a composite cylindrical dielectric resonator (DR) to characterize the dielectric permittivity and losses in the microwave range of a ferroelectrics and relaxors is developed and set up. Resonance frequencies and Q-factors of the TE₀₁₁ mode and TE₀₂₁ mode of the composite DR versus dielectric loss of the sample with different permittivity is studied. Temperature dependences of the dielectric permittivity and loss of ferroelectric Ba_0.6Sr_0.4TiO₃ ceramics with coarse and fine grains and of relaxor ceramics PMN and Ba₂La_0.5Nd_0.5Ti₂Nb₃O₁₅ at high frequencies and microwaves are measured.
