A conceptual design of the readout system for the Neutrino experiment at SNS

An experiment of neutrino cross section measurement was proposed to use Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) constructed at ORNL. When the 1GeV proton beam hit the liquid mercury target, a flux of 10
¹⁵
neutrinos/sec (v) will accompany with the neutron production. In order to measure the neutrino interaction with the solid material, a multi-layers straw detector will be placed 22 meter from the neutron source. 25,000 straws arranged in multi-layers, interlaced with the 20 tons of the interactive target material (Iron), will allow us to measure the charged-current neutrino-nucleus cross section with <10% accuracy. The detector design and readout electronics multiplexing method are presented.
