Long-Wavelength Measurement of Infrared Prorerties of Biological Materials and Their Relation to Olfaction

A classical mechanism is described for nasal olfaction based upon the sensing of longwavelength infrared. Results of dielectric measurements associated with the model are described, including the possibility of ferroelectric behavior in some protein gells.
