Hypothermia effects microsensor measurement of tissue pH

pH monitoring during heart surgery requires temperature-correction of the sensor calibration constants to accurately measure tissue pH during hypothermic cardiac arrest. Polynomial regressions derived from sensor calibrations at different temperatures accurately described the relationship between pH and voltage output of the sensor. The error without temperature-correcting the sensor was as large as 0.3 pH units during in vivo measurements.<
