Development of a 40-year design life severe duty motor

The factors that lead to motor failure are considered, and an analysis of those components most affected by insulation design is presented. The insulation design factors considered are: enclosure, rotating elements, electrical winding, materials, and the manufacturing processes used. The selection of proper insulation to protect the winding from premature failure for round-wire random windings is discussed.<
