PEBB - Power Electronics Building Blocks, from Concept to Reality

The Power Electronics Building Block (PEBB) concept is a platform-based approach where basic building blocks are consistent with one another, have a defined functionality, standardized hardware & control interfaces. Adoption of building blocks for multiple applications, results in high volume production, and reductions in engineering effort, design testing, onsite installation and maintenance work. U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research (ONR) has funded several universities and manufacturers to apply the PEBB concept to a broad range of applications. This paper describes the evolution of PEBB from concept to reality in already delivered products.
