The Application of Poynting's Vector to the Determination of Synchronous Machine Impedances

Synchronous machine impedances are determined from the "power flow" in the machine, using the Poynting Vector. Resistance and reaction, as a function of frequency and including saturation effects, are calculated. Comparison is made with values from classical formula and test data.
