Approximate Ellipsoidal-Earth Equations for Mapping and Fix-Taking Calculations

Approximate equations are developed for converting geodetic coordinates to a local north-east-down (NED) Cartesian coordinate system, and it is shown that good accuracy can be obtained if the ellipsoidal shape of the Earth is taken into account.
