Recent progress in high-T/sub c/ superconductivity: what would make a difference?

Recent progress in the fundamental understanding of the high-temperature superconductors is reviewed with an eye toward its practical implications. An attempt is also made to identify a research agenda for the future, needed in support of the applications of these new materials.<
