Numerical studies of the sinuous spiral antenna

The geometry of the sinuous spiral antenna has been modeled using a modified version of the FERM (Finite Element Radiation Model) moment method code. The cases run demonstrate that the size of the active region expands as the frequency is decreased, as would be expected for a frequency-independent structure. The current density on the tip regions of the sinuous spiral structure has been found to be significantly lower than that observed on the spiral directed arm segments of the proper sense. A definite sense preference was observed for high-current-density regions on the structure.<
