Electrocatalysis, bubbles and noise

The production of chlorine by electrolysis of saturated brine solutions is a very energy intensive process. This process would not be economically viable were it not for efficient cells and electrocatalytic electrode coatings. Experimental investigations show that coating morphology plays a significant role in the processes governing bubbles. In-situ microscopy, and more simply, electrochemical noise have been used to probe these effects with success.<
