A study of the operating conditions of the light-gas electric generator's discharge chamber

The main types of the electric discharge in hydrogen of high density (up to 30 g/dm/sup 3/) with a current of up to 1 MA and a pulse duration of up to 1.5 ms are considered. The aim of this is to improve the coefficient of transition of electric energy from the power supply source into the arc load. As a result of the research, three main operating regimes of the discharge chamber were determined: monopulsed regime; multipulsed regime; and stationary or short circuit regime. A dependence between the regimes and the value of the gap between the electrodes and the electrode material was determined. The working range of the values of the gap between the electrodes was determined as 0.8-3.0 mm. The power supply is a capacitor bank with working voltage of 10 kV and electric capacity of 0.08 F, which consists of autonomously controlled modules. The oscillograms of current and voltage drop in the arc are presented.<
