The basics of power cable

It is the purpose of this paper to give basic information about wire and cable supplemented by up to date wire and cable issues. The author discusses the following aspects: conductor types; electrical insulation including polyethylene, XLPE, EPR, PVC, and chlorosulfonated polyethylene; cable shielding including conductor shields and insulation shields; and cable sheathing, jacketing and armoring.<
