Baseband processor for the Japan Digital Cellular

The paper presents an efficient implementation of the baseband functions for the Japan Digital Cellular (JDC) handheld (or mobile) unit. This three ICs implementation includes a digital signal processor (DSP), an application specific IC (ASIC) and an off-the-shelf voice codec. Design considerations, as well as performances are presented, for various baseband functions that include the modem and the voice coder.<
