Dielectric and ferroelectric properties in the Pb(Mg/sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O/sub 3/-PbTiO/sub 3/-BaTiO/sub 3/ system

Dielectric, pyroelectric, and piezoelectric properties in the (1-x-y)PMN-xPT-yBT solid solution series have been investigated. Approximately 85% of the theoretical density was achieved for pellets sintered at 1250 degrees C for 2 h. The dielectric constant and pyroelectric coefficient increased with increasing grain size for various compositions. Further addition of BaTiO/sub 3/ affected the electrical properties of PMN-PT, and the phase transition temperature was continuously shifted toward a lower temperature with a small amount of BaTiO/sub 3/.
