Intelligent fault diagnosis and control reconfiguration

This paper gives an overview of fault diagnosis and control reconfiguration for complex systems such as those required in the aerospace industry. The presentation starts with a brief review of fault accommodation followed by four specific examples, viewed from the perspective of a control engineer. These examples are: 1) real-time fault diagnosis; 2) fault accommodation and control reconfiguration for an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle; 3) fault detection, isolation, and reconfiguration for aircraft control surfaces; and 4) fault diagnosis relating to autonomous control of a spacecraft.<
