A lightning prevention system for industrial applications

Lightning presents specific hazards to any industrial facility. These hazards are caused by lightning strikes, as well as their secondary effects, and can be defined as: direct strikes to the facility; penetrability of the facility walls to electromagnetic pulses; transient voltages on incoming and outgoing power lines, data lines and telephone lines; and the bound charge hazard. A lightning prevention system which eliminates both lightning strikes and damaging secondary effects is described. The authors discuss collector-driver systems and the stroke prevention concept.<
