Coded modulation for mobile radio communications: Practical implementation feasibility and performance

Advanced CDMA (ACDMA) for mobile or personal communications, now under investigation in Europe, is the competing technology to advanced TDMA (ATDMA) aiming to satisfy the user's needs by the end of the next decade. Multimedia mobile communications (MMC) will be common in 3rd generation systems. The use of low rate orthogonal convolutional (LOROC) coding in future ACDMA systems is addressed. In a multirate radio interface scenario it is shown that LOROC codes can be used as a means to providing multimedia (voice, video and data) services. A simulation model has been built. A connection with new multiple access interference cancellation methods is also established.<
