Flux propagation of single-layered and six-layered thin film magnetic heads

The magnetization response of single-layered and six-layered thin film heads in the high frequency region is studied using a scanning Kerr effect microscopy. For the six-layered head which has a single domain structure, the regions where the magnetization rotation is large converge at the center of the core. The width of these regions does not change so much as the excitation frequency becomes higher, but the regions where the magnetization rotation is large become smaller and the domain structure changes. Comparison of the magnetization response behavior of single-layered and six-layered heads shows flux conducts transversely along the 180 degrees walks and motion of these walls widens the convergence region where the magnetization rotation is large.<
