Preprocessing of two-dimensional fingerprint images for fingerprint recognition

Reliable fingerprint recognition requires extensive preprocessing to transform a greyscale image into a usable binary image from which features can be extracted for use in a classifier. This paper discusses two algorithms for preprocessing fingerprint images. Simulation results are presented.<
