Plasma chemical investigations for NO/sub x/ and SO/sub 2/ removal from flue gases

In a streamer-dominated pulsed corona the energetic electrons can interact with the background molecules and produce O, OH, and HO/sub 2/ radicals. Reactions involving these radicals are studied to analyze their effect on the removal of acidic pollutants NO, NO/sub 2/, and SO/sub 2/ from flue gases. For the NO removal the reactions with O and HO/sub 2/ play a dominant role, whereas the OH radical is primarily responsible for the SO/sub 2/ and NO/sub 2/ removal.<
