On the joint statistical characterization of the input and output of an order statistic filter

The authors give an exact expression for the joint cumulative distribution function (CDF) of any pair of ordered and nonordered samples for an independent N-compound sequence. In addition, they show the need to compute their cross moments by using the joint CDF instead of the joint probability density function (PDF) as is usual.<
