The hypothesis of inverse image sequence

Certain considerations are presented that lead to the conclusion that the organization of the real trace sequence of activated neurons requires a special mechanism which would ensure synaptic potentiation in an inverse direction, from the first to the second neuron. The simplest mechanism is probably the rebound effect, whereby neuron activation and the subsequent inhibition period are followed by enhanced firing involved in synaptic potentiation to the primarily activated neurons. In this case, the primary activation of the given neuron will only create the conditions for synaptic potentiation, while the rebound of the earlier excited neurons will realize this process. Another hypothetical mechanism is a synaptic delay or repeated excitation of a given neuron after activation of the feedback of neurons which may have a different organization.<
