Simulated annealing applied to controlled design for large flexible space structures

Summary form only given. Shows how simulated annealing can be applied to the controller placement problem for large scale linear time invariant systems under linear state feedback. Particular attention is paid to the four important-stages in the design of an algorithm based on this approach. Some initial results on the application of this approach to a large flexible space structure problems are presented together with some topics for short to medium term further research.<
