Application of neural networks to the teaching of English pronunciation

The authors try to recognize the 12 English vowels by neural networks. Prof. Akima, a foreign teacher of English, pronounced the above-mentioned English vowels on three different days, five times on each day. One of the sets of his 12 English vowels were used as learning data for recognition by neural networks. They tried to recognize his 12 English vowels of each day. They also tried to recognize his 12 English vowels, based upon the Japanese vowels used as learning data. They used neural networks in order to recognize the 12 English vowels which were pronounced by 12 to 19 unspecified persons on five different days.<
